Dementia is not a specific disease, dementia is a group of conditions characterizedby impairment of at least two brain functions, such as memory loss and judgment. WHat we are not realizing is the fact that a person must start with good eating habits and exercise at a very early age. Preferably, during childhood to the present. 

All the food ads consisting of fatty bacon, beef, and foods loaded with added sugars, and sodium, is not a secret to understanding why so many individuals are riddled with disease. 

Heres are some ingredients to a healthy brain and body

Korean Ginseng supplement Tea - used to improve overall health, improve memory,  boost immune system, and fight off srtress.

Elderberry -  may support heart health, improve antioxidant status, and have a variety of anti cancer and anti diabetes anti-inflamatory effects.

Beets and beet greens - loaded with life - giving minerals including magnesium (which has lots of benefits, including Alzeheimers prevention potassium (which aids heart,kidneys, muscle nerve, and digestive functions), copper, iron, and phosphorus, an essential mineral aiding cell function throughout the body.   

  Other good foods for a healthy brain, according to facty.com, are: avocado, broccoli, dark chocolate, salmon, walnuts, blueberries, tumeric,rosemary,

coconut oil.

Veggie Taco or Fajita

Ingredients

6 Portobello mushroom caps, halved

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced or grated

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

corn or flour tortillias, warmed 


 Veggie Fajita 

Omit garlic and replace with saute onions

omit cilantro and repalce with1/2 cup sliced red peppers

garnish with a few slices of avocado

Polka-Dot Angel Cupcakes

1 1/2 cups egg whites (10 to 12)

1 cup sifted whole wheat flour/Almond flour

2 tablespoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 1/2 teasspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon hemp seed

1/2 teaspoon almnd extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup assorted fresh blueberries and blackberries


1) In a very large mixing bowl allow egg whites to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, sift whole wheat or almond flour and 1/2 cup sugar together 3 times, set aside. Grease 12 popover pans, if using. Line popover pans or 12 jumbo (3-1/4 inch) muffin cups with large paper bake cups. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2) Add cream of tartar, vanilla, almond extract, 2tablspoon baking soda, hemp seeds, and salt to egg whites. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form  (tips curl). Gradually add 1/2 cup brown sugar, about 2 table spoons at a time, beating until stiff peaks form  (tips stand straight).

3) Sift one-fourth of the flour mixture over beaten eggs whites; fold gently. Repeat, folding in the remaining flour mixture by fourths.

4) Spoon half the batter into the popover pans or muffin cups, filling half full. Sprinkle a few berry pieces into each, then top another large dollop of batter and remaining batter over fruit pieces (the cups will be very full).

5) Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and spring back when lightly touched with a finger. Cool the cupcakes on a wire rack in the pan. To remove, run a knife around edges.

Thanks to Medicaid expansion, more Virginians ages 19 to 64 will have access to quality, low-cost health insurance in 2019. Eligibility is based on family size and income: 

An adult who has income of less than $16,754 or a family of three with and income less than $28,677 will qualify.

Up to 400,000 people will be able to gain coverage, including 95,000adults between the ages of 50 and 64.

2 cups Whole Wheat Flour

1 cup Brown Sugar

2 tsp Baking Soda

1 tbsp ground Cinnamon

1/2 tsp Salt

3/4 cup Hemp Hearts (shelled hemp seeds)

 

 

add dry ingredients to:

3 large Eggs

1/2 cup Vegetable Oil

1/2 cup Applesauce

2 tsp Vanilla Exract

2 cups grated Carrot

8 oz crushed pineapple

1 cup Walnuts or Almonds

1/4 Sunflowers seeds

1/4 cup Pumpkin seeds

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

spoon batter into baking cups and fill completely. Bake 25-30 minutes.

or Stick a tooth pick in the center and should come out clean.

2 cups Whole Wheat Flour

add dry ingredients to:
3 large Eggs
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
1/2 cup Applesauce
2 tsp Vanilla Exract
1 large grated apple
2 cups grated Carrot
8 oz crushed pineapple
1 cup Walnuts or Almonds
1/4 Sunflowers seeds
1/4 cup Pumpkin seeds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
